Whatever arguments you want to bring up against EVs, is not really the focus of this thread.
The transition is happening on the basis that governments are legislating the phasing out of ICE cars.
You are well justified to discuss issues that this might create for our electricity grid, because those might be issues that need to be resolved in order to accelerate the locked-in transition. Governments around the world are grappling and solving these issues.
The solutions to these questions are the real concern of this thread.
Right now, EVs can recharge cheaply overnight, because coal power stations are idling along and cannot be turned off. EVs being charged overnight are actually generating revenue for regulated electricity generators who otherwise would be wasting this energy. In other words, EV drivers are making electricity more affordable for other electricity users.
