There is another problem - they are at peak efficiency in the early years. From memory, after about 8 years they tend to start becoming less efficient (this is when they had a useful life of about 15 years so maybe now it may be 10-12 years before they start deteriorating in performance).

Full 747’s taking off and landing with full loads for 50 years have some pretty hefty work as well

as do fighter bombers we had in service for decades

of course there’s maintenance- everything has got that
