I recall the old ERG Card systems had a JV of sorts with ANZ that was premarturely anticipating this sort of industry. The ERG card systems division was thrown out after ERG (Sullivan) decided the only way to survive financially in the short term was to focus on transit.
That was yesteryear, however Westpac may have a more strategic (rather than investment) reason for acquring its recent stake in ERG.
