Usually, when a driver of trains is perceived as incompetent, possibly an accident waiting to happen, headed for a crash sooner rather than later, they replace him/her with another senior, more competent driver. The second rater becomes the coal shoveller.
Exactly what's happened here - the REAL Prime Minister, wait and watch, will now be Bob Carr. He'll pull all the strings, engage all the gears, and start blowing the whistle at dangerous crossings.
NO ONE has answered the question - how can Bob Carr (or anyone) leap-frog the whole electoral/poilitical rules protocol system and just get helicoptered in to a Senate position, an therewith the vital Foreign Minister portfolio?

This tells us that the divisions in the Labor Party are now so bitter she was forced to do this. And indicates that the Labor front bench is as shallow as a kid's pond if they couldn't find an alternate Foreign Minister amongst their "own".
