Suggest you check out seek.com and see how much it costs to hire qualified accountants in Sydney.
I have worked in small listed companies and from memory we would have been spending in the region of $1m per annum on a finance department including $350k on a CFO.
This was several years ago.
If they arent employing any other finance staff its an entirely reasonable amount.
