Sorry baggies, when I said eaten alive, I was referring to a media campaign.
The mine itself , not that much of a concern.
Likely to have minimal real impact.
Major problem is the issue of "mining".
Area sells itself as an idyllic country setting[doesn't do a lot for me frankly].
BAU mine seen as the thin edge of the wedge.
Guy I was talking about, really doesn't care that much, he was just relaying his views on how local residents, developers etc would play it.
Just very hard to see how BAU could counter this.
And the state politics of this area, are such, that I cant see the state government overiding the council decision.
Would like very much to be proven wrong in the end.
But the main gains in this stock will be be in down stream processing in the future.
Imagining a headline some time in the future,
"EVIL COMPANY WHICH TRIED TO DESTROY CHITTERING, PLANS ALUMINA PLANT"
Keep in mind , truth and fairness, has nothing to do with all this.
