What you say is correct if you were GF. Whatever they sell to push the price down would also have to be released to the market eventually so there is a chance of seeing there ghastly plan before a takeover offer.
However on the flip side if I was the director/shareholder of CQT, I would ensure that at the right time, to release as much information in regards to drilling results, feasiblity study progress and measured status.
I would shout it to every broker and also start the rumour mill that a takeover is imminent.
That should even things up a bit.
