Bronze, the stockmarket is all about risk/reward. When shorting was first introduced into Australia many brokers were reluctant to accept short orders for the exact reason you identify.

Often such traders are much more intelligent and disciplined than buy and hold longs. They put tight "stop losses" in place, trade using algos and hold for only the briefest time. .

With computer generated Artificial Intelligence I see such trading as increasing.

The only deceitful thing about these traders is they post as disgruntled long holders, hoping their well timed outbursts flush out a few nervous nellies. You can never be sure who such shorters are (I might be one lol) and it is a fruitless exercise trying to identify them imo.

AZY has it's own circumstances that make it an extremely attractive short.
