Pinto,
Investigations don’t prove anything one way or another.
They provide evidence which a court may determines proves something.
In some cases the police don’t choose to investigate, in other case sets the prosecutors may choose not to proceed, the court may dismiss the charges or the court may find insufficient evidence to support or conviction.
Police may sit on cases for many years before deciding to prosecute.
Innosence is never proven. Only guilt is proven in court.
So if parliamentarians are to be stood down on an accusation at what point can they be allowed back? The police never exonerate nor declare innosence, new evidence is always admissible.
Bill Shorton and this Liberal minister will always have this accusation hanging over them unless a court finds them not guilty.
