Nothing in life is free, not sure about other states but in SA if mains water runs past your property you pay a quarterly fee weather your connected or not, some time ago when people first started going off grid there was talk that if the power lines ran past your property ( but not connected) the service provider could be allowed to charge a fee (for the infrastructure going past) make no mistake that sooner or later rooftop solar panels will attract some kind of ongoing tax from the govt.No one escapes a tax grab

Yes. Like road usage fees, to snare EV drivers who aren't contributing to the fuel taxes anymore.
