The trial is a 12-week study. Measurements at baseline and at 12 weeks. Teenagers with acne are supposed to not to use any other treatments during the trial.
if they are on placebo and don't see the results, some of them may be tempted to try something else rather than wait for the end of study. This may be due to various pressures in their day to day life.
This could be one of the reasons in theory that may reduce the overall treatment effect in final analysis.
I hope this is not too great to affect the outcome of the study.
