And now the rise of the MVNO commences and just as predicted in the unread tech series in 2016, the new players will use the traditional MNO’s networks to provide mobile connectivity to all users with the main game of moving all users, fixed and mobile, to leverage the soon to be rolled out 5g via the cloud to disrupt and consolidate through lower cost and faster data transfer.

And those players will need a CSP type cross carrier functionality to be relevant.

Coming soon mobile routers for homes using cross carrier chips (forgot the right name sorry) in low or no cost mobile routers, data accounts that kick in if you reach your data limit with your current telco, true unlimited data and all with non call (voice, text) connectivity unless you want it.

The competition will drive innovation, sponsored data will be the norm with MVNO making their money through new revenue models around content delivery from corporate and high frequency of transactions.

Singapore leads the world in innovation and where they invest others are generally wise to take note.

Still a couple of years off taking hold but IMO don’t buy Telstra or Optus and the like!
