Like public housing, fires are a State responsibility, but you still need the Feds to provide direction, commitment and adequate additional funds to do the job satisfactorily. The LNP did none of that for a decade, instead leaving the rental market to the private sector in an abrogation of duty to its citizens - and here we now stand with a national, rental housing emergency.
