The whole EV market is about becoming environmentally sustainable. More and more businesses are fast coming to the conclusion you can't run a business in a dead planet. Using synthetic graphite anodes defeats the purpose. It will be interesting to see if the EU bans them. They have/are putting in place rules and regulation which only allows the importation of materials which are ethically and environmentally sourced eg ban on DRC cobalt and mines which pollute the environment.

The problem as I see it is the price of natural graphite. It needs to increase to become economically sustainable to mine it. Same for Nickel. What this does to the demand for natural graphite as a precursor versus synthetic will be interesting. Not to mention the price of the cars. But IMO, the environment will trump all.
