Tuesday morning, climate activists from numerous groups met outside the old IBM building in Endicott to promote and advocate for New York's New Climate Leadership and Protection Act, which was passed with the intention of reducing the state's greenhouse gas emissions.

Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo, as well as members of the network for Sustainable Tomorrow, Catskill Mountainkeepers, all spoke in support of the arrival of a lithium ion battery plant and a solar start-up company that would both bring hundreds of jobs to Endicott.

The plan of the climate act is to reduce emissions by 40% by 2030, and no less than 85% by 2050.
