They (CIG) are on record as saying that an experienced fellow out of Century Drilling is in charge of the inexperienced drilling team (made up of local chaps). Appears to me that they're on top of the situation. Seems to be some crappy near-surface horizons that are highly fractured/v. porous and as others here have commented, these need to be plugged so that drilling mud isn't lost uncontrollably into the formation. It's better to take it slowly and do it properly. This well will take longer than the previously announced two weeks, as does everything that CIG does here (it's a '-Stan' after all!) but it's virtually an appraisal well at the fringe of the nearby oilfield so chances are good for a discovery imo. What size is another question, but looks good to me so far. I'm holding 'til the end. For me this first well is also about the cred of CIG's management and the quality of their tech work. If this one comes off, and I think it will, it'll be a big vote of confidence for the rest of the series of shallow wells.
