Maybe once every 4 years or so Australians should be presented with a raft of complex decisions that the gov't of the day is unwilling to decide over and put it to a referendum.
Rather than just one issue to vote on have 4 or 5 that are causing division in the community. I can think of about 4 or 5 that are causing indigestion in the political sphere atm!
