A company would typically only ever do that if they felt like their shares are over valued. It wouldn't make sense to do if the acquirers shares were undervalued. That scenario would more likely prompt a buyback of the companies own stock. For clarity, I think WP & the BOD believe we're currently undervalued (as do I).
Even if it were to occur, it is still dilution, so the negative effect of that would have to be considered against the acquisition targets value.
