Bunnings may not be as "client-friendly" as when it first started out, but will the Woolies clone be any better?
The ACCC is intent on busting the food supply duopoly. This tension always sells advertising space; the media will exploit it and squeeze it dry to the consumer mobs in the Colloseum. Consumers will support any underdog (IGA, Aldi, Costco or the buddy leaguer of the future still in the under-16's) that gives them a much cheaper bag of groceries. Content, quality may not be important. I think the battle is just hotting up.
WES are more diverse; SP less likely to be seriously impacted. I just think there will be a bully-boy backlash against both and a serious third (and fourth) contender will get a dream rails run. With ACC, media and consumer "help". Might be Costco; but it might spring from an unsuspecting direction.
"At Aussie, we'll save ya" worked really well...... I think some other entity is just about to storm into the supermarket game with a simple, but efficient and successful formula.
Cheers
