jimlee to put it briefly it adds cred to the company and importantly it's inclusion allows, or even demands, some instos and managed funds to buy in. Some may only hold ASX300, or ASX200, or ASX 100 etc. Some funds match on a weighted basis the companies in a particular index. So this does create some demand.
