I'm actually really impressed by Zipts marketing plan. I'm not sure if everyone fully realises what the marketing says about their vision for and belief in the app. There's been some comments that this is just another comms app in a crowded market - but I'm not aware of the other new players launching smart, multimillion dollar ad campaigns with A list celebrities and properly monitored social media components and branded helicopters and deals to acquire large numbers of users and with a successful beta test of up to 100,000 users. All of this is a very major point of difference, and that is before you even consider they have a product offering something that no others have yet matched - good quality, encrypted calls that work well in low bandwidth environments. I'm not making any pie in the sky predictions personally but it seems like all the ingredients are there for something quite interesting post launch.
