Interesting to note that the Geo companies will be contributing $720 million and the remainder to be covered by the transmission network owner (ElectraNet).
What I suspect is going to happen is the GEOs will build a line to Olypic Dam, and then ElectraNet will build a line from Woomera to Olympic Dam.
Currently ElectraNets grid stops at Woomera, and they wouldn't wont to miss out on income from connections/transmission, so I suspect ElectraNet would stretch their grid up to Olympic Dam.
Also to note from the article is that it states the line will be 275kV, which is the standard voltage level for AC transmission in SA, and therefore I very much doubt that the connection will be a DC as has been suggested by GDY on several occasions.
