Kudos to TPG management for securing this deal and Big Congratulations to the people of Adelaide!

With Adelaide city council partially subsidising this major capital project, TPG is basically in a win/win situation.

First, it gets to expand its fibre footprint in Adelaide without having to fully pay for it on their own.

Second and more importantly, at the completion of this project, the number of TPG's potential customers in Adelaide will increase significantly. TPG will be able to offer products that are impossible to resist, when compared to competitors' offerings. And not only that, Adelaide City Council will be doing most of the marketing! Brilliant!

Third, this project provides a blueprint for other councils to emulate. I expect similar agreements with other councils to be won by TPG in the future.

Once completed, revenue derived from this project will be very high margin, just like TPG's FTTB products. This is just one small example of how TPG is going to recover the margin lost from the forced NBN migration.

Only a company like TPG is able to secure this kind of work. They are now big enough to have the resources and infrastructure and yet still nimble enough to outmaneuver the bigger rivals such as Telstra, Optus and NBN to offer Adelaide City Council something attractive like this.

    This is the official announcement:
