Yes, very few people in Australia realizes this. The US owns 60% to 70% of our largest Public Companies (CBA, NAB, ANZ, WBC, BHP, RIO, etc etc etc). If it was the Chinese, there would be hell to pay (politically speaking).I just wish we have more independent foreign policies that serves the interest of Australia, not a foreign country. Enough of men and women have died in foreign countries that's got Nothing to do with Australia. Most of those countries DID NOT DO ANY HARM TO US. But its sold to our public as fighting for Democracy, Freedom and Rules Based International Order - which basically means we fought to preserve the hegemonic dominance of the US (before that, it was the UK). There is NO SUCH LAW (INTERNATIONAL LAW) AT THE UN, which mandate countries to do that!!! In fact, we have been the ones breaking International Law, for the Rules Based Order of the US.

We have only ever had 1 Prime Minister with the stones to stand up to this and try to do what was right for Australians. Look what happened to him. I wont mention the name as it is too triggering for our right wingers.
