I am impressed. I received a very prompt response from the CEO. Copy hereunder -"Thanks for emailing and TALi are aware ofthese guidelines. They are actually really good news for TALi. The guidelinescall for more therapies, options and solutions and options for people with ADHD(and TALi agree!). We believe this includes our products- both the trainingtools and the digital delivery.
The summary of evidence is actuallycorrect. The tricky issue with ADHD is that the presentling symptoms of concernare often behavioural and a root of this I often poor attention. Trainingattention can allow the clinician (often an occupational therapist) towork more effectively helping the child with the behaviours that are causingconcern. Without the improved attention, the therapy can take longer, be moredifficult or not be as effective. The fact that our tools can be completed athome mean that the face-to-face time with a clinician can be more targeted onworking on behaviours.
Additionally, poor attention is often thefirst symptom that parents or teachers see in many other improtant disorders ordiagnoses. One of the outcomes of the focus on ADHD (more research, moreinformation, etc) will be better and earlier identification. Currently theaverage age of diagnosis is about 7 years of age and consists of largely havingcertain behaviours. We need to do better at identifying this earlier.Development issues generally respond better and faster when they are able to beidentified earlier. With inattention being an early symptm, we see a role fortools that can identify attention issues earlier.
Evidence-based tools are important toTALi and we are committed to providing evidence for what we recommend. We areproud of the research available in our online compendium. We also haveimportant studies occuring in the USA and have recently joined with theCognitive Science group at Macquarie University to engage in other projectsthat will inform our products and thinking at TALi. This is a fast moving areaand TALi are comitted to ensuring there is good evidence for our medicaldevices.
These guidelines are good work in furtherprogressing the need for more information, research, treatments andconversations about these important health issues!
Thanks for getting in touch."
