I did follow up and as expected received a very generic email from mcgrathnicol, including:

The Receivers are undertaking a sale and/or recapitalisation process. The outcome for shareholders of Mallee Resources Limited (Administrators Appointed) (Receivers and Managers Appointed) from the Receivers’ intended process is presently unknown.

The Administrators will provide further updates to shareholders as matters of a material nature progress.

I will get my accountant to write it off and re-adjust the expected cuppla bucks next FY.

At the very least, this experience has reinforced the sovereign risk and quality of director factors to me. Tough lesson but worth it.
