You have to be careful with specs Croupier. Any serious market collapse and they will disappear. Dont forget 1998 and 1997, where anyone with a spec portfolio was murdered, or even worse - 1987 where I gather buyers simply just disappeared for years and you might as well use your scrip to line the garbage..
Having said that, I do agree with you that sentiment has turned against growth and high cost stocks and specs are being quite nicely treated. I have made money on specs for the first time this year. But I do it by being extra careful - only buying pullbacks, selling as soon as the md sets in, keeping strict stops.
There's no way I would buy and hold a spec with this level of volatility around.
