Toyota are so far behind it doesn’t really matter what they are doing.
The key to volume manufacturing (cheaper batteries) and safer batteries may be in the manufacturing process, and this dry method seems to be the path Tesla is taking, but they are running into problems, and they still need solutions.
solid state batteries don’t have a fast manufacturing process at all at the moment, and there is no guarantee they will amount to anything at all.
