Just to keep things in perspective...

2017, the worst flu season in NSW history, there were 559 deaths recorded associated with influenza.

From 1st-28th January 2022, we have had 559 deaths attributed to COVID19.

ONE MONTH and we have the same number of deaths as the whole year in the worst flu season in NSW history.

Unlike flu seasons, we have >95% of the population immunised against COVID19.

Unlike flu seasons, we are wearing masks, social distancing and restricting our activities.

And this is reportedly a "mild strain".

For those who think COVID19 is just like the flu - it's not

(For comparison, NSW influenza total deaths in 2018 were 40 and 2019 were 334 - the second worst influenza season on record).
