Yes there is a reason.
I haven't thought of the last one before. A signal to other trading confederates. That would work well.
However they would have a plan as to how much to spend, over what period of time and to support what price. If they are in communication about these things then why do they need a signal ?
Unless the algorithm is put in place and then 'switched on' when there is an order for 10M at .001c
I think we are the muppets(simple folk) who buy and hold for years. Very ordinary trading style.
There seems to be so many other styles. People go to a lot of trouble to make money.
Every company in the spec space that holds some short term promise seems to attract this kind of attention.
