I have previously posted about the technology which XPED has up for universal adoption, but have noticed that a lot of people still seem confused about what it actually is that is unique, or part of the product line XPED hopes to bring to the market as a whole.
The first thing to note is that the system is one which uses as many of the current protocols/ hardware types as possible.
The foundation for ADRC technology is something which already exists: Near Field Communication capability (NFC) in mobile devices. XPED uses this capacity by producing a chip which resides in a 'thing', which will react to an NFC enabled device .... "Bump".
Please note that the ADRC technology is in the 'thing',
not the mobile device (which already has the NFC capability).
So, you hold your phone near the 'thing', it 'bumps', which means the ADRC chip in the 'thing' sends some information to your phone. Your phone then sends this information to the second part of the ADRC tech ... the hub.
The hub is the important piece of the system, and will probably end up as an integral part of any standard router or wifi system. It is the focal point for the local network of 'things', and manages the security, communications and coordination between devices.
Once the hub has been informed of the existence of the 'thing' by the mobile device, it communicates directly with the 'thing' via another standard protocol (usually Zigbee) ... at this point it establishes all the protocols for future use of the 'thing' on the local IOT (wifi) network. At the same time, it sends the required information to the mobile device, and that is uploaded into the device memory for use via the device browser - the DeB app on the phone.
The connection of the hub to the internet gives it all the other capabilities that make this work so well ... but it is not essential.
ADRC Technology will be in two places:
1. The IoT chip (the ADRC shield) - which is where the agreements exists with Telink. These are the billions of chips which will have to be produced to go into anything which will be considered part of the internet of things.
2. The IoT gateway (the ADRC Hub) - which is where the discussions and porting demonstrations have been occurring with Intel - to become part of their IoT gateway, which will eventually be in everybody's routers or wifi equipment.
