Blue Beckons as Athena battles belting

Sticking to rumbles at resource hopefuls, we look forward to the shareholder showdown at Athena Resources. West Perth hard man John Thomson is trying to oust managing director Ed Edwards and his wingman Peter Newcomb from Athena, which operates out of chief executive Edwards’ Hillarys home. Thomson is peeved about Athena losing some tenements at its flagship Byro magnetite project because of a Wardens Court finding that Edwards’ crew had failed to spend required amounts on exploration. Warden Thomas McPhee’s decision is brutal, including a systematic ripping apart of the evidence given by Edwards and Athena geologist Liam Kelly.

Warden McPhee said Edwards claimed administration costs in a way “that bore no resemblance to the actual expenditure” and “displayed a concerning lack of knowledge of the financial activities of the company”. Unsurprisingly, Athena had barrister Dane Chandler in the Supreme Court this week preparing an appeal to be heard on August 24. No matter who wins at the shareholder meeting on June 28, they will be hoping Chandler succeeds with his arguments focused more on Athena’s future spending ambitions than its historical management prowess.

And going back on the notice the put out on 20/12/22, the tenements look to be gone. Unless they appeal is successful, which doesn't look likely.
