If anyone thinks our permits won't be approved you are crazy. The Andalucian Government want Lomero Poyatos to happen just as much as we do. Looking forward to a better week than last and hoping for an update on any of the following:
* Government approval for the submitted work programme
* Landowner access negotiations, and most importantly,
* Winmar anticipates that it will be able to commence the drilling in late November.
What happens in that international context with Spanish projects? Some, no doubt, will fall, or endure, dying, awaiting better times.
A good example is the Lomero-Poyatos Mine, in the province of Huelva. A Canadian and Panamanian company, Petaquilla, received permission to reopen it in November 2012. The project provided for an investment of almost 100 million euros which would create 140 direct jobs and another 250 indirect jobs. But months passed and between the municipal terms of El Cerro del Andévalo and Cortegana barely saw a part of the surveys that were planned to do. That is, the company did not fulfill its part of the contract to get back there gold, copper and silver, and the Junta de Andalucía decided at the end of 2013 to withdraw the concession.
But despite the failures, the enthusiasm of the sector does not decline. There are some twenty projects in progress, some very advanced and others in research, includingLomero-Poyatos again; The Australian Kimberley Diamonds has made the contest for the rights and has already begun to investigate its possibilities.
