I'll try to keep this short LOL. I don't subscribe online to the below mentioned newspaper so I've had to type this out myself. Please let me know of any errors. I got rather angry this morning as I read page 59 of the Adelaide Sunday Mail (Adelaide Advertiser newspaper). David Penberthy launches into another tirade of bias and untruths (can I say lies on here?) to demonise Vladimir Putin. Rupert Murdoch happens to own the paper (I'm being careful with the language).
These are just some examples:
A large photo of Putin appears at the top of the page, with the bold text inscription:
"Putin the villain of unfolding horror story".
The photo is subtitled: "
PARIAH, Russian President Vladimir Putin risks harm to his own people by his move to impose trade sanctions on Australia".
The article begins by describing the horror of the downing of MH17. Nobody could disagree with that, but it's a setup for what follows. Following are some quotes from the story (in bold), with my comments:

the initial revelation that a passenger jet had been deliberately blown out of the sky."
But there is no concrete evidence that it was deliberate, only accusations and inferences in the media.
".....
the refusal by Russian separatists to cease hostilities and allow an independent investigation ...."
As events unfolded it seemed to me that it was the Kiev military that took advantage of the situation and moved troops into nearby areas to attack the separatists. It was also the separatists who first escorted ABC News24 reporters close to the site but made sure they did not get in harms way. Kiev was still blocking plans to allow access to the site while blaming Putin for the delays. Of course the MSM followed the lead and also blamed Putin.

How pigheaded of Putin to use sanctions on us to retaliate againsts the the sanctions Australia placed on him first! (sarc). As far as the Russian population goes, I'm sure they will be fed! Russia has moved on from the Tsarist days.
Then Penberthy has to follow that up with at least a smidgeon of truth by writing: "...
but at an 87% approval rating Putin won't be worrying about that." Hmmm, he must be doing something right back at home, eh?

Didn't Tony Abbott address the world and directly blame Putin for MH17, repeatedly? Enemy of free trade - wouldn't that be the US and their allies which applied sanctions to Russia first? IMO, outright sanctions are an act of war, so now we want to split hairs and decide which ones are allowable.

Well, I reckon Abbott and Bishop are about to get some serious lessons in international politics and will learn to engage their brains before engaging their mouths next time. It's called diplomacy. I'd also back Putin in a judo match with Abbott.

If the West allowed Putin to be heard at the G20 it would blow their "demon" ploy wide apart. IMO, they can't allow him to speak there, but I would love it to see it happen.
Well, I spoke too soon. It seems that Penberthy's masters really don't want Putin there after all. Penberthy was only kidding:

Firstly we don't yet know what shot it down. Maybe a SAM, but whose BUK launcher was it (the Kiev military has many). Maybe it was 30mm cannon from a jet fighter, as some evidence implies. Penberthy's style still infers that the act was deliberate, also an unknown.

It seems that our goverment is taking a bipartisan approach to the porky pies. According to this link Australia started planning sanctions on 19th June 2014. I think we can believe it - it's the Dept of Foreign Affairs website (the horses mouth).

During which time the Kiev military, the CIA and the USA will take full advantage of the situation!
We all know that this is about the control of gas pipelines between Russia and eastern Europe, and the possible rise of a second global reserve currency to compete with the USD (de-dolarisation), all courtesy of the BRICS (the R is Russia).
It's also about NATO getting into the Ukraine and installing Anti ICBM missile launchers along Russia's border with Ukraine, hence destabilising the global balance of power.
As US General Wesley Clark said (I'll paraphrase), when you have the biggest military, sort of like a big hammer, every problem looks like a nail. Sounds like all recent US led wars!
IMO, the US and allies should get out of the Ukraine and start writing treaties, do some deals on the natural resources, and go about building trust between the various parties. It will take some time though.
