If i am lending you the money it makes a lot of sense to me. You are borrowing my money i want to be sure if you can meet your repayment due to unfortunate circumstances i still want repayments i want to make sure i dont lose out so i insist you take additional LMI because you are asking for additional loan.
Whatever your unfortunate circumstance is i must not lose out.
