Your post about balance sheet management explained the practical and logical reasons why companies do buy backs.
That does not mean that companies have to be practical and logical. Companies can still stupidly buy back stock in their hope to manage the share price.
I believe that is what smuggler was suggesting.
His is NOT the first post we have had about deliberate manipulation of the share price.
