I had a similar prob 6 months ago. My main bank had stopped taking foreign currency cheques not long before. They failed to point me in any useful direction, but I did have an account with NAB, and after visiting a NAB branch (not many left) I managed to deposit the cheque into my account. It cost me a $25 fee, and I wasn't too impressed at the exchange rate which seemed to be working very much in their favour. Good luck.
