If fossil fuel tax rebates were stopped our economy would grind to a halt, if tax rebates for oil and gas producers were phased out oil production would dry up and the economy would crash, throw away lines like phase out fossil fuel subsidies are easy to make to feed the geese, but we have a long way to go before we stop using fossil fuels.
The claims that solar and wind are the cheapest form of electricity, why do they need subsidies. Renewables still need firming and at the moment gas is the only viable option in Australia apart from a massive roll out of batteries and massive roll out of home solar production.
