The article reads like poorly researched propaganda; suggesting the Morrison government "refuses to commit" to net zero by 2050 is disingenuous given Morrison has stated it is the governments preference to reach net zero by 2050.

It is interesting to note that the Renew Economy article seems to suggest a pivot towards a "Green Hydrogen" super-exporter economy is what market operators would prefer. One might ask the author if they have researched the primary method of producing said hydrogen (being natural gas reforming).

I am not surprised that market operators are disinterested in a model which might lead to higher ACCU costs to make CCS a profitable undertaking (which would dampen their profits on traditional generation methods).

The method in which energy market operators choose to use the gas (in turbine plants as gas, or by reforming it into hydrogen) does not impact the need for BPH's potential gas reserves in PEP-11 in either scenario. Most likely you will see an uptick in both aspects and this is before we even consider the CCS aspect of the BPH play here.
