Bad luck to the Socceroos, I watched the game and they had their chances but just one of those games where the ball wouldn't go in the back of net for the Aussies, on many occasions there were some freaky saves by the Japanese goalie, saves by his foot or balls heading for goal being deflected by defenders, balls cleared off the line etc.
Commiserations to the team but the good thing to come out of it was the cohesiveness of the team in attack, the up and coming players like Jedinak, Ogdanovski, McKay and Kruse are looking the goods and developing into great Socceroos to replace the outgoing players.
Holger has them playing a great offensive style too, a bit of work to do in defence as the Japan goal highlighted but all looks good for the Socceroos going ahead.
Congrats to Japan, they came off extra time in their semi to win on penalties so a big effort by them to hold Australia out, a great rivalry being continued and we'll get our own back eventually :)
