The other thing to consider is how much your own time is worth. If you pay a tradesman by the square meter, work out how meters you can do an hour so you can work out how much you're saving per hour. I can earn (or save) about 20 bucks an hour tileing based on the going meter rate, Ive done it befrore and got all the gear but it's still cheaper for me to pay a tiler so I can be spending my time earning more than that.
