As stated it was going to be well over $30k to connect to the grid and the nearest poll is only 900m away. The cost of solar is constantly going down whilst the price of electricity is going up.
I'm not a doomsday prepper or anything like that but its kind of cool living in a house that is basically self sufficient. The only connection we have to outside is a wireless NBN connection on the roof.
