You make a good point. They are in my wife's name and she's on maternity leave, so the tax element is negligble for us, but you're quite right for anyone in the higher tax brackets.
The investment thesis can be boiled down to buying a discounted call option on the ASX 200. If the market rallies strongly into any of the 3 interest payments I will consider converting into AFI shares.
