Standard of umpiring is not great at the moment, best the AFL accept that and commit to try and get better.
Simple adjustments to the ridiculous 50m penalties imposed, over zealous out of bounds calls and some consistency in HTB would be a much better look.

One of the most annoying things in the game is the players throwing their arms up and appealing for everything, some of that is at times is a deliberate attempt at distraction from their own team mate being pinged.

Get someone with brains in charge of umpires. Every monday morning they should all be in a meeting with a big screen and replays, go through the decisions one by one. Be honest and frank, wow look, you stuffed that one up. Apply a score to each umpire for their performance in every game. Double demerits for absolute clangers.
