Eagle you have IMO just articulated why Turnbull should not at this stage be leader of the opposition.

Those of the left and Labor bent calling for him to be leader will not necessarily flip their vote to the coalition while the base of coalition voters will be highly agitated.

Turnbull as leader at this time simply does not make sense ... only to the folks wanting to undermine Abbott because he does not suit their bent.
