I have spoken to Mesoblast directly about this. Passing the futility test in their minds means it is not deemed almost certain to fail.
That means it could be going badly but is still a chance, or it is going ok, or finally it is going really well - time to post some footage of rockets blasting off.
Simple fact is, we do not know because nobody outside of the DMC saw the data.
Dress it up how you like, I have read some fanciful things on this group, but supposing Mesoblast know how many patients in the treatment group are going well - when they themselves have said they will be blinded from the data at all levels - would be up there with some of the best.
