An Indian bid will also come with a infinitely deep pocket (not that the Glencore one is anything to sneeze at).
The Indian government is systematically shutting down the domestic IO industry. The Indians also see Chinese Imperialism in the sense that the Chinese demand for IO devastate the Indian country side and depleting India's own IO resource where one day it may not have much viable minable ore left for itself.
India (for some strange reason) sees China as a strategic rival. It has been trumpting her intention to send in the Indian navy to the South China Seas to protect (against the China) her sea drilling projects with vietnam where the Chines have been sabotaging their effrots.
