Such an interesting article! Crawford (the regulator) really didn’t like the implication he somehow dropped the ball… “Some people have tried to raise that – it’s total crap”. Looks like it’s become personal for him now, so anything is possible. He's obviously a serious guy and well credentialed but this latest episode in the saga seems a little unprofessional.

The general manager was appointed by the regulator after all. The channel through which to communicate is obvious. To spring an inquiry on The Star without notice on a Monday morning, forcing them into a trading halt, stinks of theatre rather than due process. There’re are thousands of people affected here: employees, suppliers, shareholders and of course the regulator’s reputation for impartiality. Let’s hope for all involved that egos are put to one side and cool heads prevail.
