Byron,
"the real issue is that you appear to lose money on ALL of your investments! " [ Real to whom? ]
Nothing like going off topic, getting personal/flaming, lying, fully discrediting yourself and getting it entirely wrong all in your first sentence.
Your bitterness wrt that copper miner knows no end, and yes even there I am up.
Wrt GPG I was in it in 1996, but it had lost the plot and was well past it's prime when I sold out prior to the GFC - alas it never joined my ten bagger club. So yes as you would guess I know it well. Prior to that I had investments in BIL and IEP (but not IEL), but I am not foolish enough to believe the Ron Brierley of today is the same Ron Brierley of his 70's/80's heyday - people age, lose their mojo, tire, and die.
With totally undue respect to you, just as you've spent a long time barking at the wrong copper miner, and fail to see the wood for the trees in your trawling the internet to back your conclusions of doom for China, in this case you are arguably looking at the wrong patterns - patterns to need discernment.
Weiss may offer you something positive, but Ron Brierley is no more going to make you a fortune, that is only a pattern for a wood duck imho.
To suggest as you did that Ron Brierley might go back to the entrepreneurial patterns of former times is thoughtless nonsense. That pattern can be disgarded as a bygone era, GPG has not made one game changing entrepreneurial move in a decade, and Sir Ron is a tired old geriatric.
