For Gordon the lower the bid now the better as far as I can tell. He'll be rolling his shares over into the new company so the lower the cost to the private equity buyers the more money they'll have allocated to invest into the business...the more valuable Gordon's shares will be. He'll be hoping for the lowest possible successful bid.
On the other hand if the bid fails. He's screwed.
